Something about JOETAI DOLL

We used the finest vinyl to produce our dolls.

It costs 10 times more than other normal vinyl and is about the same cost as porcelain.

Normally there will be mold lines on dolls' arms, legs and both sides of body, however, JOETAI DOLL doesn't have any mold line and the quality is close to porcelain except the weight.

Our idea was to design finest dolls like precious porcelain dolls but with more durable quality, Ingrid's arm can move back and forth, So  JOETAI DOLL has perfect pose with attitude already rather than many joins.

I myself is a perfectionist, so we always keep improving the quality, finally, after many tries, our R&D found a best way to increase my dolls’ weight, we inject some special material into the vinyl, so now the weight of Ingrid is 1.5 time more than before, and Lara is 1.6 time heavier than before as well, although it is still not as heavy as porcelain, however, this makes really big difference from other dolls already. I hope you can really see and “feel” the difference.

In 2006 summer, we improved our Ingrid’s body to be fully articulated body with 13 joints, is the best quality available in the market, you can pose your girls however you want. Later in the same year Ingrid got another two friends—Brigitte ( Caucasian ) and En ( Asian ). We will create more friends for Ingrid in 2007.

All JOETAI DOLLs are limited to 50~200 pieces.

Something about JOETAI Art Studio

The concept of JOETAI DOLL is to use durable vinyl to produce porcelain like doll, so we also apply the hand paint makeup like porcelain dolls on JOETAI DOLL.

JoeTai Art Studio established Hand Paint Dep. in September, 2004, and hired a bunch of graduates of National China Art University, and trained them all by JoeTai and the tolerance of difference is only 5%, so except some minor parts are sprayed, the most are still hand paint.

In December, 2004, we established R&D Dep., to improve the material that we use.

And March, 2005, Sample Department was established, all the samples that you see on our website are from them.

To chase the perfection, we give up the idea to mass produce the fashion in factory, we decide to produce fashion in my own studio, so we can do better quality control, so we set up Product Department with different teams: Sewing, Handwork, Hairdo, Assemble.  Only the best of best are hired to do these jobs and this department started working in April, 2005 and assure you of our best quality.

In May,2005 we establish Sales Department, including China and Germany. All the orders will be handled by Germany Sales Department.

After all those efforts, finally JOETAI DOLLS are ready to meet you.

Something about colors and JoeTai doll’s makeup

Once a professor acclaimed that Joe Tai is really talented on managing colors, and yes, color combination is really one of Joe’s specialties.

In JT-001 Glamorous Mode, Joe used 8 different tones of glass beads, the color contrast is simply tremendous, however, Joe magically mixed them in harmony and created this dramatic result.

The normal makeup of dolls contains at least 6 colors including white and black in eye line and eyes, however, Joe Tai used only 3 or 4 colors ( including black and white) for Ingrid’s exquisite makeup and created Joe’s unique style. Joe doesn’t take other dolls’ makeup as reference but art basis, and he also considers the entirety of doll as first priority. Although Joe Tai masters colors very well, however, he is not satisfied yet, he would like to make it better and find more color combinations from different elements. Joe does think that different arts are all connected, take something for example, Joe Tai sometimes even use tonality to match color tones! And actually this can come out pretty ideal colors unbelievably.

Something about Joe Tai

JoeTai, originally from Shanghai but

grew up in Taiwan. He bought his first collectible Barbie in 1999 and since then he fell in love with dolls.

Not long after he started collecting dolls, he started designing outfits, make up and hairdo for dolls and got a lot of fun from it. From 2000, he started selling his OOAK dolls and joined many international doll makeover contest, in 2000-2002, Joe received 5 BMASS first places ( including one Reader’s Choice of the year) and one third place. With all those awards and all the supports of his fans, Joe decided to design his own brand name dolls, for this reason he moved to southern China.  During producing JoeTai dolls, he doesn’t design any OOAK dolls.

From 2003, he started designing and producing all accessories for different kinds of dolls. Majority is shoes and boots. He sold more than 20,000 shoes and boots in these four years.

People may askwhy does it take so long to produce JoeTai doll? The answer is pretty easy. Because Joe works really hard on doll’s figure and face and tries hard to make her perfect. He revised many times and even gave up two finished molds. However, finally the final mold is made and now in process. So JoeTai dolls will come to market in June, 2005. Although many revisions were required, however, the face mold was approved by Joe when it was first time finished. Joe’s two different sizes dolls ,Ingrid and Lara, their face is sculpted after Joe’s face. If you removed all the makeup from Ingrid and Lara, you would find that the original face looks pretty similar with Joe’s face. Although Joe is an Asian, however, his grand mother was Dutch, so his face is more outstanding than other Asians. This proportion fits Ingrid and Lara very well.

Joe loves his dolls, hope you do as well.
